At the beginning of December, more than 20 Lions visited Los Angeles together. Lions of Judah are women who make a minimum contribution of $5,000 to the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Annual Campaign.
Our CEO Tracy Salkowitz became a Lion this year and participated in the Los Angeles trip together with local National Women’s Philanthropy members Marilyn Einstein and Deanna Evenchik. “I was truly humbled by these women,” she noted, “Their passion and commitment to the Jewish community is inspiring. The fact that non-Jewish women have embraced our community and have become truly part of us, makes it all the more meaningful.”
The Lions visited with staff and were hosted in Los Angeles at the home of and LA-based Lion. They visited with an award-winning Jewish film writer, had a private tour of Paramount Studios and visited the newly refurbished Wilshire Boulevard Temple, hearing about the history of Jews in the Industry along the way.
The two-day trip concluded with a breakfast at a home built by William Randolph Hearst on the beach in Santa Monica where the women shared what it means to be a Lion.
“I admit,” Tracy said, “I was blown away by the commitment of these women for helping our Jewish community, locally, nationally and overseas. It is that shared love and dedication for our people that bonded us together.”
