Promise
To perpetuate Jewish life
into the fifth millennium, the Jewish Community Foundation established
the Endowment Book of Life, a record of individual members of the
community who signify their intention
to endow its future. Signers of the Endowment Book of Life make
a simple promise, that after they are gone, a portion of their
estate will remain as a legacy for the community.
Honor:
A Personal Statement
Each signer is invited to contribute a brief family history or personal statement to the Endowment Book of Life, and those who wish to share their stories with a global audience can include them in our online archive of Family Histories. This connects signers with friends and family in other cities, while it links our Tucson community to fellow Jews around the world.
Formalize
& Fund: Your
Action Fulfills the Promise...
After you've signed the Endowment Book of Life, the next step is to take the appropriate action. Consult with your lawyer or accountant and your financial advisor. Volunteers from the Foundation's Professional Advisory Group will also be available to meet with you or your advisors. Your gift can be as simple as adding a paragraph (codicil) in your will. This bequest can be a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate and may take the form of life insurance or a transfer of specific property. You can direct the proceeds to the Foundation's unrestricted fund or to any one or more Jewish charities in Southern Arizona.
- You'll
know the satisfaction of being a dynamic force in the continuity
of the Jewish tradition long after you're gone. YOU CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE!
- You'll receive a beautiful sterling silver replica of the Endowment Book of Life "Chai" medallion – a lapel pin, charm or pendant – to signify the redemption of your promise.
- Your
name will be added to the roster of the Chayamimthose
who believe in the tradition of "Chai," the unbroken chain of
life for our people.
The silver medallion on the cover of the Endowment Book of Life was designed and hand-made in Israel. It was especially chosen to symbolize the values expressed by the Book. The Star of David, the "Chai," the Tree of Life are all here, beautiful reminders of our timeless Jewish heritage.
The
Global Connection
Following the successful origination of the Endowment Book of Life in Tucson, dozens of Jewish communities have undertaken a similar endeavor. From Vancouver to Washington, D.C., and Dallas to Montreal, Endowment Book of Life projects are blossoming, helping to ensure that world Jewry will continue to prosper.
